Jobs, anyone? (Especially in or around Tokyo)

πŸ™‚ The title says it all! I’ll be finished with my studies this summer and start looking for a job in the Tokyo area starting around October this year. Anyone got an idea? πŸ™‚

Japanese intensive course – or yet another era of sleepless nights

Booya! Having started from March 23rd, I’m currently attending a very good (and intensive) Japanese language course which takes place 9 hours a day, 6 days a week until this Saturday. Adding to that, I’ve also started implementing parts of the A.I. of a robot that’s supposed to go to the EuroBot 2009! As cool as all that stuff is, my daily sleep quota dropped to a new record-low around 3.5 hours a day… When I’m not in the classroom,in the robo-lab, in the gym or out running, I’m sitting at my desk spending hours and hours studying, repeating, preparing. *sigh* Well, at least the language course totally rocks πŸ˜€

But I’ll be celebrating and sleeping (finally) when it’s over πŸ˜‰

Still alive…

What else? Hmm, as I already mentioned, I’m trying to work my way through the programming I’ve got to do before being able to write my thesis on that software. Even though it’s frustrating from time to time because Ruby on Rails is always-evolving and many features needed for your application which you spent hours or even days on implementing tend to pop up as a new feature in the next Rails release, it’s also fun and interesting to play with that new feel programming. Completely different approaches, more focus on the actual application and not on the tools and frameworks you need for it etc. *sigh* Wish I would’ve started with that a lot earlier πŸ˜‰

Nomiya

Wow, it’s been quite some time since my last post – sorry about that againz… Well, what did I do? Hmm not too much, actually, but I’ve been hella busy as usual πŸ˜‰ First of all, Andi and me use the free time we’ve got to the max for exercising, running, spinning etc. but my stupid belly still looks like as if I was drawn by the “Gelini” guy. Secondly, there has been a lot of programming going here because I need to get some things straight for my thesis, eventually. And the deeper I dig into Ruby on Rails, the more I love it. Seriously, this might become the no. 1 language for designing websites in the next few years!

Today, I finally managed to test out the Nomiya, a kind of typical bavarian pub which features Japanese cooking done by actual Japanese chefs πŸ™‚ It was soooo cool sitting there, having some very, very delicious Yakitori, Edamame, Sushi, etc. in that Bavarian-looking Boaz’n (which basically means pub)! I highly recommend that one! πŸ˜€ Ah by the way, Japanese restaurant-tips in Munich are always very welcome πŸ™‚

Isogashii / Busy

Well, well… It’s been quite a long time since my last entry here. Sorry ’bout that. I’ve just been so freakin’ busy ever since my return from Japan. Final exams for this semester are closing in and I should have been studying instead of going to Tokyo but in my opinion, Tokyo was the way smarter choice πŸ˜‰

First of all, I want to present some pictures of my second trip to Japan, however, I did not take so many due to my own stupidity… As you might have read, I’ve lost my small pocket camera, so I packed the bigger one into my luggage. Alright. Got everything with me: the cam, lens protector, SDHC card, batteryd’oh! forgot the battery! So the only option for me to get at least a few pix was to buy a new battery at my favourite electronics store, Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku…

Tokyo winter 2008/09

I was given the chance to enjoy the nice Tokyo winter, the great food and a lot of fun with many friends.Β It was a great week and I want to thank everyone who could find some time to see me! Hope to see you again soon πŸ˜‰ Oh and Ayumi, he LOVES the shoes πŸ˜€

So what did I do after coming back? Hmm not so many things, actually. Since my final exams for this semester are starting in one week already, I’m basically doing nothing but studying at the moment. Well, at least two pleasant things happened to me: My mom found my beloved Pentax camera and I finally got my new computer *yaaay* but I don’t really have the time to play with my new / old toys at the moment so this will have to wait until February πŸ˜‰

Saying good-bye to Japan… Again

Whew… It’s been an absolutely terrific week for me being back in Japan again and I’m really sorry for having to say good-bye to Tokyo once again. Time always just blurrs and passes by so fast when you’re happy, right? And again: Tank you to all the people I know here and whom I’ve been able to see during this week! To all of you whom I couldn’t meet: See you next time, eh? πŸ™‚

Will look into coming back soon, so just keep an eye out for me πŸ˜‰

Happy new year!!!

Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu! Kotoshimo yoroshiku ne!!!! (Okay and now for those of you who don’t speak Japanese: A happy new year – and I don’t know how to translate the second one πŸ˜‰ )

And if you’re wondering why I’m “too early”: It’s already past midnight in Japan πŸ˜€

Big in Japan 2.0

Jeah I’m back to Tokyo! I’m in town until Jan 4th and will try to see as many of my friends as possible. Will keep you posted as soon as I get my local cell no. πŸ˜‰

Going back to Tokyo

HEY! After having had (and still having, by the way) a quite unpleasant time lately, I spontaneously decided to take a time-out at the end of this year and spend a week abroad. Yeah, right… You guessed correctly: I’m going to visit Tokyo again! HELL YEAH! πŸ™‚

Just like a good friend pointed out: “THIS IS GONNA BE F*CKING LEGENDARY!!!” πŸ˜€

Arrival: Dec. 28th, 15:55 (LH9790)
Departure: Jan. 4th, 13:15 (LH 715)

I would like to meet as many of you lovely Tokyo-people as possible during my stay, so just drop me a few lines asap πŸ™‚

Back in Good ol’ Germany

Well, the title says it all. I’m back. My over six months stay in Japan finally has ended and I’m actually writing this post from my parent’s place. So weird: I woke up in Tokyo, had a nice Starbuck’s breakfast and a nice train ride to the Narita airport and now? Now I’m here already and will sleep in my old kodomobeya tonight…

And here’s to all the people I know in Japan again: THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can’t even say how grateful I am for the past six months.Β Please don’t forget me for I’ll never forget this wonderful time! Anybody, please keep in touch!
