Guys, it’s not always a pleasure to work with a Mac, especially not when the owner is some sort of crack who doesn’t keep any default settings but uses each and every available known-or-uncommon shortcuts…. argh… of course, you need to be aware of the American keyboard (as opposed to the German), and if you want to switch to the German one, you need to first re-adjust your blank guest-account to the special shortcuts in order to apply them to type a ä/ö/ü … and so forth…
